Homogeneous And Unhomogeneous--A Study About City Texture Of Different City

There are main attributes and marginal attributes in our cites. The distinguish can show us a whole new field of morphologies. Furthermore, The distinguish accords with the phenomena appearing in the urbanism. The difference of main attributes and marginal attributes in the cites makes the difference of homogeneous texture and inhomogenous texture.There are explicit functional sub-areas in a city with more main qualities, because main qualities bring out the comprehensive and multiplicate city function. The whole city makes up of the regions with diverse styles and features. So the city texture is inhomogenous. Otherwise, there is a dominative function in a city with more marginal qualities, and the other functions are so minor that they can coexist in a region. Each region has similar style and features. We can say the city texture is homogeneous.Not only do we analyze the diverse texture from different city qualities in theory, but in demonstration. One by one cites in Zhejiang are given as samples, main attributes or marginal attributes. With Figure-Ground Theory and Linkage Theory, it would be studied that had included the mass texture, the space texture, the change between different city texture, the relation between different city texture from different city qualities, and the structure of city texture not only in town but among every town in a city. In the end, we can value the diverse city images from different city qualities. Maybe, it can help us to modify our way of city design.
