Magnetic heading system (MHS) is an essential device used to measure the heading of ships,aircraft and land vehicles. With its application area extension and the rapid development of modern unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV),the large size and high power consumption become the problem of existing MHS. Furthermore,the high cost of deviation compensation and error correction is another problem. Such new technologies as microprocessors,microsystems and intelligent sensors are good ways and mearis to solve these problems. The modularization and intelligence of MHS are the emphases of this thesis. HPR-1 solid magnetic heading measuring system is just researched and developed out in such background. It is a modularized intelligent magnetic heading system for an object plane. It consists of three parts:host-controller,hand-held display controller and function testing box. Hand-held display controller and function testing box are two accessories. They will be removed from HPR-1 MHS when host-controller is embedded in other system. HPR-1 system can not only complete the real time collection of such signals as heading,pitch,roll and deviation,but also provide users numeral and analog output after the error compensation. The experimental results show that it is accurate,reliable and flexible in operation. It can be used not only in unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV),but also in other fields such as cars and ships.
