A Preliminary Study On Memorial Landscape

As a classic but lively type, memorial landscape is one of the substantial forms of human social emotion. It is one of the forms that are composed of economic, politics and culture. As the traditional landscape model it can't adapt itself to contemporary, social notion and people's spiritual needs any more, modern memorial landscape diverts from setting-up of single monument to creation of space and environment.This paper defines the conception of memorial landscape, reviews the history of memorial landscape and sorts over the forms of memorial landscape. Based on these analysis, it infers the development trends of memorial landscape. The theories of phenomenology and modern psychology are introduced in this paper. It tries to analyze the space construction and space characteristics of memorial landscape. Theauthor emphasizes the basic elements of memorial landscape--landform, stone,water ,plant and etc. It is the texture and color of the elements that constitute the space characteristics of memorial landscape. To prove his view, the author analyses different kinds of built projects in details.
