The factors that influence the earthquake response of the soil layers of site are analyzed in the paper. The main factors are selected, taking account of the schemes abroad and home in site classification and practical engineering.Based above, a two-grade fuzzy comprehensive evaluation model is presented on the ground of the current seismic design code for building. It is that taking the membership of equivalent shear velocity as weight of the model not empirical weight in traditional one-grade model. It has been proved in site classification reasonable. It not only solves the problem that the bounce of two classifications when the values of the factors on the boundary, but also is conformity with the code very well. Therefore the method of two-grade comprehensive evaluation can be used in practical engineering efficiently. It is pointed out in this paper that the factors are grey interval numbers in values. With the new theory of grey pattern recognition, a two-grade grey pattern recognition model in site classification is worked out creatively, in the light of the two-grade fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method. The results have justified its superiority. It can not only manage with grey information, but can be applied to other fields in practical engineering reasonably.
