At the age of pursuing ecological environment construction in the Northwest of our country, the progress of urbanism is living to be developed speedily. If we think about the future approaching development of urban in the view of sustainable development, we have to recognize the fact that the urban fringe spatial forms blindly will certainly cause the most thoroughgoing damage to the natural ecological system. Therefore the paper explains the study to unfold researching on physical space of the urban fringe by planning and designation with natural essentials.After investigation of the Xi'an as the center city in Northwest of the country, the paper is aimed at proposing the physical spatial layout pattern with natural essentials of the urban fringe of Xi'an. Based on the principles of urban-rural spatial integration, the ecological environment of sustainable development and designation with natural essentials, the studies improve methods and steps of the physical spatial layout to theory of the urban fringe planning and designation with natural essentials, by revolving around the relationships of the human, space and nature. At last the paper puts forward the physical spatial layout pattern through analyzing the problem of ecological environment in urban fringe of Xi'an.The paper tries to play the view on the fact that designation with natural essentials is the one of methods to resolve the similar space pattern of the different urban fringes. At present, it is the best way that we can choose among all kinds of artificial environment according to the ecological tendency of the subject development of urban planning and designation.
