With the alteration and innovation of traditional building technique and implemention of the policy on walling material and energy saving, the development of the residential structure system becomes one of the pre-task in engineering at present. So, this thesis introduces a new residential structure system presumed hollow shear wall R.C. structure. With some vertical hollows, hollow shear wall R.C. structure not only has lighter self-weight, smaller stiflhess and better ductility, but also has significant energy saving capability due to the inner air. In all, hollow shear wall R.C. structure will be a kind of ductile structure with advanced seismic behavior.Based on the tests of 25 elements of hollow shear wall R.C. structure and 16 hollow shear wall, we had accomplished pseudo-dynamic tests which employed EL-centro wave with different input peak acceleration and pseudo-static test of 1/2.8 scale model 10-story building. We made research on the degree of cracking load, yield load and failure load as well as die sequence of the structure crack and yield; the internal force, the deformation, the failure mechanism of the building. The rules of dynamic characteristic: frequency, damping are also brought about. The disscussions on the characters of earthquake response, such as structure displacement ,action of earthquake, the amplificatory coefficient of acceleration and the rule of strain were made. The analysis of the force-displacement hysteretic loops and skeleton curve of the structure were also processed. Based on the conclusion of the test, we discussed the ductility of hollow shear wall R.C. structure and effect of the coupling beams. In accordance with the code and other tests, the advice of the detailing of hollow shear wall R.C. structure were given.
