The construction of small residential communities in our country are developing very quickly in recent years, but the design for water supply of small community are less available in the water supply and drainage design manual, design specifications and textbooks. When the designs are done, there is not a consistent formula, and the design results exist some problems. So this cannot be satisfied with the practical demands, which sometimes influence the safety water supply of residential communities.According to the scales of small residential communities, the number of people, water supply of small residential communities have its characteristics with regulations, namely the flux formula differs from flow per second and maximum flow per hour used in water supply, but between them. Only the flux being decided properly, the design will match the fact well, which met the demand of user and saved the material. This paper analyzed the formulas of calculation of design flow per second and maximum flow per hour used in water supply. Combining with practical investigation and analysis, the author presented the fitting equation of the second non-uniform coefficient in which the method of least squares error approximation with the power index regression is used and proposed a modified formula for flow rate per second calculation to precisely determine the size of pipeline and to make the design advanced in technology and reasonable cost. It is showed that it is more practical to use the formula to calculate the flux.
