Diesel engines have been used in many fields and are playing an important role in people's lifies. However, the result of large number of diesels is that the consumption of oil resources is increasing sharply and the environment is being polluted severely. Such a contradiction has bothered the world for a long time.With the development of modern industry culture and more urban vehicles, the emission of diesel engines has been the main contribution to the air pollution in cities. With the attention increasingly given to environmental pollution, restriction of diesel engine emission in many countries is becoming more and more rigorous. Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) has been used widely as an alternative fuel to reduce exhaust emission. What's more, it can amend the fuel consumption's configuration to be favorable to alleviate oil crisis. China is a developing country with abundant Natural Gas resources. If this alternative fuel serves widely for China, it may have important strategic significance.This thesis firstly focuses on the way of using CNG in turbocharged diesel engines. Aiming at the automobile diesel engine of the type of D6114, some experiments contrasted the differences in performance between the diesel/CNG dual fuel engine and the mere diesel engine. The result shows that some suitable strategies must be followed in the use of CNG in turbocharged diesel engines to certify the good dynamic performance and low emission.Based on the the mass experimental data, taking advantage of electronic control technology, a set of diesel/CNG dual fuel supply system is developed and the control of CNG supply for turbocharged diesel engines is primarily realized.This thesis introduces the development of this electronic control system in detail, including the structure of hardware,the module of software and the control style.Finally, the deficiency of the electronic control system is analyzed and the next step of work is indicated.
