It worries the whole world all the time that the limitless requirement of energy is in conflict with environmental pollution resulting from utilizing endlessly energy sources by human. The car emitted a large quantity of deleterious exhaust gas in the megalopolis and at the building or mineral sites, which threatens badly the somatopsychic health of inhabitant and breaks the ecosystem equilibrium. Being a flowing contaminative source, the automotive vehicles have become the "chief criminal" of air pollution. In order to deal with the problem about energy crisis and the emissions of engine, the research based on the alternative fuels in the internal combustion engine field has become the foreland task. It is confronting with the dual pressure from both the automotive requirement of energy and environmental protection along with the rapid national economic development and the high-speed increase in cars.Dimethyl Ether (DME) is the most promising ultra-low-emission alternative fuel discovered recently in the world. As a kind of cleanly burning fuel, DME is catching many researchers' attention in recent year. It is showed by research that it's cetane-value is so high that DME is perfectly suitable to be alternative fuel of diesel engine, and it is hopeful meeting the future stringent emission regulation of diesel engine because of it's clean combustion. Burning DME in the diesel engine can solve the problem that petroleum resources is reducing based on the long-term viewpoint, meanwhile, it can meliorate the emission pollution based on the short-term viewpoint, which develop a realistically feasible approach to solve tow big difficult problems, namely crisis of energy and environmental pollution.Working together with Guangxi Yucai Machine Co. Ltd, our group of research has done the DME/diesel blending experiment on YC6108QC automotive diesel engine. It can lower emission of un-turbocharge diesel engine to the extend that it meet the EURO- I standard, furthermore, it has noside-effect on the performance of engine.The design of the DME/diesel blending system and getting the optimal DME/diesel ratio and comparing fuel consumption between with and without DME is presented in detail in the paper. The system includes mainly two big sectors that are mixing tank and ECU. The mixing tank is designed which function is to blend diesel and DME rapidly and richly so as to ensure the uniformity of mixing fuels. The ECU is devised which role is to determine the flux performance of the solenoid valve and the emission performance of engine and to ascertain and control DME/diesel ratio. And, the test-bed is set up.
