Our country enters the aging-country gradually in the 21st century. But business for the aged lags behind the society advancement and economy development, the facility is insufficiency seriously. The architects confront the vital question of the inhabitation environment of the aged. The aged increasing quickly, change of family structure, separation between parents and family and difficult of family support which arouse demands of the house for the aged. The domestic and international fulfillments prove that promoting to develop the house for the aged has more widespread, more positive meaning.This thesis points out the house for the aged is a solution to the problem of the aged in our country under the precondition of analyzing the need and future of house market for the aged. As a kind of building type in residential quarter, constructing house for the aged which is a carrier to develop house market for the aged and service market for the aged keep the elderly living independently and sharing society production. Based on the analysis of physiology, psychology and behavior characteristic of the elderly the thesis study on design of the house for the aged by dividing into the exterior and interior space environment. The thesis indicates the core of design is the elderly, creating easy to identify, easy to control, easy to arrive, easy to company with others, barrier-free space environment. From the site plan design, the road design, various function spaces design, service facilities design and the details design, the theme carry through all the designs to accommodate the special needs and interests of the elderly. Through the study on the house for the aged, the thesis hopes to enlighten the forthcoming design and research of house for the aged.
