As a new technology that is becoming attractive, Reverse Industrial Products Design (RIPD) is developed rapidly and relates to many disciplines. RIPD can acquire design data from present products by means of technologies, for example, measuring technology, computer graphics and image process technology, which is impossible for traditional technologies. It shows a new design method that can improve the design efficiency and shorten the cycle.This project aims at resolving the technology problem in RIPD by means of integrating technologies based on the research on the key technology. It is emphasized to get the key geometry information of the cutting tools through photogrammetry technology after scanning the work pieces in order to reconstruct the cutting tools surface with the help of cutting tools design theory. The acquisition and processing of cutting tools point cloud is the basement of RIPD. How to get the cutting tools key geometry information is the crux of RIPD. The conclusion of this project is applied in RIPD system for cutting tools. And this thesis gives the system design into details.
