| Under the background of sustainable development, this paper has examined the interaction between transit and land use from two aspects: one is from the demand of land use for the transit; the other is from the impact of transit on land use.Firstly, after discussing the future urban form, the necessity of developing transit and the demands of several typical urban layouts for transit are analyzed. Transit is essential to improve urban traffic and to optimize transport structure. For different urban layouts have different demands for transit, the urban layout should effectively sustain the transit in order to optimize transit running.Secondly, the impact of transit on urban land use is studied on the macroscopic, mesescopic and microscopic levels. On the macroscopic level, the transit network should be planned to integrate with the layout of the whole city, to harmonize with the land development plan, and to drive regional development or urban renewal. The urban space structure can be optimized by transit. On the mesescopic level, the effects that the transit stops have on the surrounded areas and the above buildings have been probed into. The process that the transit routs and stops can rise the price of the surrounded areas, improve the development intensity, expand the development area and strengthen the attractiveness of the surrounded areas is analyzed. On the microscopic level, the integrated design of transit stops and other architectures is discussed. Moreover a few designs for reference have been provided.A good integration of transit and land use at the above three levels can create an sustainable urban transport modal, use urban land intensively, and rationalize the urban traffic structure. |
