Recently, advertisements have been full of all around our cities, even every street, every block and every corner, transferring various message. They have played a more and more important role in our city environment, but the advertisements have not gained enough attention in city constructions. The result is that many aspects of advertisements do not have clear law warrants, which would bring some negative effects in the environment quality of city, the image of city, compositive competitive capability of city and so on.Advertisement is a significant domain of the country. It accelarate the circulation of commodities, enhance the image and status of the enterprises and improve the earnings of city. Therefore, advertisement is an indispensable element of city. Nowday, we may advocate to take the effective resources of city as a commodity which could be dealt in. By this way, the economic energy would be infused into the development of cities. Also as a resource, how to use the advertisements correctly in city building, meliorate the surroundings of cities, increase the taste of cities and how to provide fresh blood of the city renovation, have been becoming the emphases in the tasks of the designers and managers of cities.Aiming at the actuality of Advertisement in cities and the leaks in city building management, this article use urban design, environment behavior and other correlative theories, reference others harvests from many knowledge domains, to analyse in system the economic function of advertisements, influence space and environment of cities, effect on the vision and sentience of human being, advertisement scale in different dynamic states, different space and different nodes, the relationship between advertisement and city territory in different characters and different functions and so on; to summarize the chief principles followed in the city planning; put forward material design method. All of the work are for the sake of providing theory base for city designers, providing safeguard in law for city managers and providing rational goals and avenue for the improvement of habitational environment.
