Piezoelectric materials became a new center of vibration control research, for its outstanding feature. And how to use its excellent property, such as quick response and simple structure, and overcome its defect, little deflection, is a main problem facing every researcher of piezoelectric materials application research. For this reason, in this paper, a piezoelectric friction damp PALL brace is designed. And we want to use the feature of small relative displacement between two contact surfaces of friction damper to overcome shortcoming of piezoelectric materials, and then we can use the piezoelectric materials free and effective. In this paper, we make the follow progress:First, we design a piezoelectric friction damper PALL brace(PFDPB) out of old friction damper and piezoelectric actuator. And then we analyze damping property of PFDPB with ANSYS program, and get the bilinear damp modal.Second, based on the quick response feature of piezoelectric friction damper, we design a new control algorithm, the local velocity feedback control(LVFC), as the local control algorithm. The LVFC can adjust the damper's friction force in proportion with relitive velocity of damper, made it acting like a viscous damper. And so can suppress displacement and velocity responses of structure, made no exciting to acceleration response. Our test shows that local velocity feedback control is a excellent algorithm for piezoelectric friction damper, and it can control structure displacement and velocity response with low cost of acceleration response.At the end of this paper, we apply the local velocity feedback control algorithm together with self-adaptive control algorithm, and design two self-adaptive control algorithm, local velocity feed* Sponsored by Special funds of Shannxi Education Department, Fund Number(02JK120).back gain control(LVFGC) and local velocity feed back predictive control(LVFPC). We offer the test and results of these two kind of control algorithm, LVFGC and LVFPC. The results demonstrate that LVFGC and LVFPC are all proper control algorithm for piezoelectric friction damper.In a single word, in this paper, we investigate the damping property of piezoelectric friction damper and proper control algorithm for it. And we hope all these works can do some help to the application of piezoelectric material in structure vibration control.
