Hydraulic shock absorbers and pneumatic cylinders with air buffers play an important role in automation pneumatic product line. There is a large choice of such products on market, but little detailed theoretical and experimental study on their characteristics has been done, especially from the aspect of their structure and mechanics. Such rounded and systematic research has been done in this thesis. It is significant in theory and engineering for the design, performance improvements and reliability of both the shock absorbers and the pneumatic product line.The main contents of this thesis are as follows:1. On the basis of the introduction of pneumatic technology, the importance of cushion and modeling for cushion process are proposed, the classifying and research methods are discussed.2. With the basic theory of air buffer, aiming to the key segment for modeling -flow equation and gas buffering process, theoretical analysis with experimental data is helpful to realize the modeling and simulation research.3. After the introduction of the innovations and the improvements of foreign hydraulic shock absorbers, the profound cushion mechanics study is done aiming to the shock absorbers chosen for the thesis; The cushion process of hydraulic shock absorbers can be divided into several stages, which include local pressure loss caused by across sectional area shrinking, sharp edge throttling and aperture throttling. Detailed simulations and calculations in such theory have been done, the results of the testing experiments is satisfying.4. To closely investigate the uncertain nonlinear factors in the cushion process and simplify their influence for the sake of the mathematic modeling, an experimental rig is designed and constructed, for which the mechanical, hardwired and software tasks have been done.5. Several useful conclusions have been drawn through the research work. The existing problems and the future development are also put forward.
