With the development of ground improvement technology, the physical and mechanical properties and consolidation theories of soft clay are paid more attention to. Some researchers have set up some relation formulas among physical indices and mechanical indices. Owning to the local area confinement and less samples the engineering properties of soft clay are reflected systematically.Utilizing least-square method the paper analyzes and compares the engineering properties of Wen Zhou city and Tai Zhou city in Southeast China, and reflects comprehensively practical engineering properties of the two areas.Firstly the paper introduces the current research of soft clay engineering properties and the usual least-square method that is usually adopt in statistics. Secondly by analyzing the physical indices, mechanical indices and the relativity between the physical indices and mechanical indices the paper compares the engineering properties of the two areas. Lastly the magnificent comparison of the engineering properties between the two areas is done.
