Rapid Prototyping manufacturing came of USA, and then It run to Japan and west Europe, It is a great breakthrough in manufacturing technology domain in late 20 years. RPM is an integration of CAD, numerical control, laser technology and material science, It can automatically and rapidly make designing become a prototyping which has some structure and function or directly fabricate parts, so It can rapidly evaluate and amend on product designing in answer to market demanding. Consequently It enhance enterprises' competing ability. The emergence of RPM reflects developing current of manufacturing technique per se and great influence, which comes from drastic, market competition.This paper aims at the shortages, which are too much information, too long-processing time, low precision, needing checking and revising, of STL form file in the front processing of Laser Rapid Prototyping, It puts forward a method of 3-D CAD model direct slicing, and It will process section profile curve that direct slicing produces so that this section profile curve will be used in sequent numerical controlling machine tool. Direct slicing on the model can reduce data-processing time and file dimension, advance precision of work pieces. Direct slicing has been realized with software MDT because using Visual LISP programming language.Textual research proves it feasible to slice directly on 3-D models and abnegate STL format file that is usually used in all kinds of rapid prototyping machine, It has a significantly practical value.
