| It's difficult to analyze the air flow in large space such as gymnasium using the common design tool. The velocity and temperature fields of the original and optimized designs for a gymnasium are numerically simulated employing Fluent. In this work, the space is discretizied using tetrahedral meshing grid, and the flow is described by indoor zero equation model, and SIMPLE algorithm is applied. The result shows that the velocity and temperature fields of the original and optimized designs are both acceptable. However, the sensible load of the optimized designs may reduce by 16.7% for the increase of 2℃ of the temperature of the supply air. Thus the optimized design is recommended.CFD is effective design tool for air flow in large space, for it can give the velocity and temperature values ant any point quantitatively. Attention must be paid to the selection of meshing grid, appropriate simplification of the boundary condition, and selection of turbulent model and solving algorithm when general CFD soft-ware is empoyed. |
