Concrete protect the steel against corrasion, for it provide the alkaline condition. Carbonization is a key factor that makes alkalescence of concrete decrease, the high performance concrete is applied in engineering field increasingly with its good carbonization capability. The high performance concrete is synthesized by superplasticized admixture , high quality fly ash , air entraining and low water/cement ratio in this paper. This paper based on the Water Project (the transfusion of water from the south to the north) analyzes the carbonization properties systematically, which is one of the properties of concrete durability. Its result can be a references to expansion the application range of the high performance concrete , strengthening the research of the high performance concrete.Firstly, this paper analyzes the influence of some factors (such as the water/cement ratio, types of cement , curing time etc.) on the carbonization properties of high performance concrete as well as that of common concrete.Secondly, the paper tries to analyze and make a comparison between the common concrete and the high performance concrete regarding carbonization life span, considering the carbonization life span, the high performance concrete have the preponderance over the common one. Then, the half-carbonated zone (transition zone) phenomenon is mentioned and verified by way of using XRD & TG, thus giving contradictor of the existence between the half-carbonated zone and the premise of phenolphthalein test method-no existing obvious transition zone between carbonated area and non-carbonated area. Finally, the paper presents the grey connection theory, GM(1, N) grey modelling theory, GM(1, 1)prediction model theory which respectivelyresolve such aspects: theory of correlative degree related to the influence of the carbonization depth, establishing the model of carbonization depths, modelling theory of estimating carbonization depths. And they achieve a better result with high precision.
