Higher performance of AC servo system, widely used in various areas, is demanded with the development of modern industrialization. As for exact radar and military weaponry device, high speed, high precision and high reliability are especially significant. Full digital control can assure the whole system work with the good performances above, flexible function, and fine ability to resist the disturbance. Micro processor DSP with high performance and the advanced power electronic devices make it possible to realize the full digital control in AC servo system.This paper studies an AC servo system with the Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) as the executive component. The disadvantages of the conventional methods of AC servo system are demonstrated by computer simulation and by analyzing the mathematical models of the PMSM and the vector decoupling control strategy. Then, an improved double-Pi combined with variable structure servo controller is proposed. Whole control system is designed with TMS320LF2407 as the core control element. Experiments results substantiates that this system can meet the demand of the required performance.
