With the more and more use of Aluminum alloy in the field of Civil Engineering in China, it is becoming an important work to study the behavior of fundamental members of aluminum alloy under the force. For axially loaded strut, one of the fundamental member, it's behavior of stability is the most important factor for its bearing capacity. But in our country, because of the lag of studying work for aluminum alloy structure and without the code for this kind of structure, the use of aluminum alloy structure is limited. So, for the development and use of the aluminum alloy structure and the establishment of the code for the aluminum structure, it is necessary to study the behavior of fundamental members of aluminum alloy structure.In this paper, by using the method of experiment researching and theory analysis, the stability of the axially loaded aluminum alloy pipe in structure of the folding tent was studied. Firstly, according to the requirement, the members, the method ,and the data for researching was determined. Then the experiment was done and the data was collected. And then, the result of experiment was analyzed. Secondly, by using the method of theory analysis, the stability of the same member was studied and the result was achieved according to the formulae, then the result was compared with the result from the experiment. And then, the available formulae was determined. Finally, the formulae provided by this paper was proved to be precise and fit for this kind of member. So, it can be used to calculate the bearing capacity of stability of axially loaded aluminum alloy pipe.
