Study On The Architecture Of The Saltfield God Temple

The god temple offered sacrifices to the saltfield god of ShanXi province yuncheng city, for main source of Chinese and ancient salt benefit. The saltfield of yuncheng was a national and well-known place for producing salt from the ancient times. In the Tang Dynasty , its salt benefit occupied eight percent of the national taxes, becoming the important source of the national taxes. The feudal rulers thought the abundance of salt yield of every year was due to the saltfield God, thus setting up the temple to offer sacrifices to the saltfield god a long time ago.This faith was a part of ancient salt culture in our country, for special relation of the saltfield god temple with the saltfield. Its building system contains its special factor of salt businessmen.This paper studies the saltfield god temple of yuncheng , which lies in ShanXi province. The architectures' scale was magnificent and its form was intact. It was an important representative of all the salt-god temples. This study can enrich the treasury of sacrificial architecture. At the same time, this study provides a detailed data for the study on history of Chinese salt industry in building aspect.With this cultural background, this paper discusses and demonstrates the history of evolution, location and environment, the whole layout, single architecture, detail characteristics of the saltfield god temple of yuncity. On the basis of analyzing and contrasting the present architectures, this paper discusses reservation of architectures' layout of the saltfield god temple. And puts forward that the meaning of reservation and protection was to protect the history value of the saltfield god temple of yuncity. This paper points out that protection work of the saltfield god temple of yuncity consists of the protection of the planning of historical and cultural's structure and that of the form of yuncity. And this work needs cooperation and lasting joint efforts form all related institutions of our country.
