Transportation Safety And Visual Assistant System For Motorists

In this paper, a visual assistant system applying image processing is proposed for the motorists who are preparing to turn to the right at the cross. A road camera was set at a position where the whole conditions around the cross can be observed and from it the motorist can get the opposed line conditions which he can not see from his car. The images obtained from the road camera can be translated into new prompting images viewed from the motorists by 2D projection transform which can improved greatly the processing speed of computer compared with 3D shape restoration method. Also three methods of creating the new prompting images and the display ways for the motorists are discussed. To test the efficiency of the proposed approaches, an experiment system was constructed.
