Slice cutting is a procedure in the production of solar battery while slice cutting machine is one of the necessary equipments in this procedure. To meet the expending market requirement, we have developed a new type of slice cutting machine for solar battery production, which is called sand-wheel slice cutting machine. This is a precision cutting machine in which mechanism, light, electronic, vacuum technique, fluid mechanics and air dynamics are integrated.The design of mechanical system of sand-wheel slice cutting machine, under the direction of precision theory, is introduced in this thesis. Considering permissibility, the whole error is distributed into machinery, light and electrical parts in economical and reasonable mode. The problem that the permissible error is over strict because of very small overall-error is solved by error compensation which can expend the permissible tolerance. The positioning accuracy required by the automatic sand-wheel slice cutting machine is 10um/200mm. The error distributed for mechanical system is 7um. This rule is followed by tolerance distribution for every mechanical part of component.Emphasized discussion is carried out for the error source, error calculation and accuracy analysis of Y-axis and 9-axis positioning system which determine the positioning accuracy of the whole sand-wheel slice cutting machine. The design of transmission systems for X Y Z -axis is introduced here, with roller screw pair for Y-axis precision line positioning system, precision worm pair for 0-axis angular indexing system, synchronous belt for X-axis and sliding screw pair for Z-axis.The design plan for the hardware and software of electrical control system is given in this thesis.The examination and test for the sample machine is finished. The result has shown that the performance can met the predetermined technical criteria. This is the first time to cut solar battery with sand-wheel. The performance of this cutting machine is the most advanced in our country. The gap in the field of large-size sand-wheel slice cutting machine is thus filled in.battery with sand-wheel. With this machine, the production efficiency and rate of acceptability are improved and cost is reduced. The requirement for convenient operation, high efficiency and reliability in production is met. This machine is also suitable for cutting 8-in silicon slice and other hard material with high cost performance. It can be widely applied for the machining of semiconductor, NTC, ceramic, glass, printed-circuit board and so on.
