This paper describes a pile groups-soil-pile cap interaction model in the lateral loading and proposes a finite layer-finite element analysis for the single pile and groups pile. This paper uses the finite-layer theory to simulate the transversely isotropic-layered soil, and uses the combined rectangular plate elements to simulate the pile cap in order to imply the really axis stiffness and anti-bend stiffness of the pile cap. Each node of this element has five degrees of freedom. In addition, this paper uses space frame to simulate the pile.Based on the finite layer method and finite element method, a numerical analysis model of pile-soil interaction is established for single pile. It is proposed to transform a half infinite space problem into a 2-D quasi-plane problem. Good agreement between the result obtained by present method and the result by the field test proves that method presented in this paper is correct and reasonable. This paper also analyses the characteristics and influential factors of single pile under lateral load.In this paper, based on the finite layer method and combined plate elements theory, a analysis model of pile groups-soil-pile cap interaction is established for groups pile, and proposes a three-dimensional numerical analysis for the groups pile in the lateral loading. Some conclusions relating to the displacement group effect are obtained from simulating the influenceof several factors. The results prove that the model can consider both the effect of clusters piles and the ratio of loading share of each pile.Based on the numerical model, Fortran is used for programming both the single pile and groups pile in this paper.
