The stress and deformation distribution of the HeiHe Project, 130m-high core-rockfill dam , is numerically investigated by FEM. Affect to stress , deformation and pore water pressure, which is caused by changing dry density of core material , gradient of core and thickness , construction period, is been researched by using 2-D FEM. The state of stress and deformation of dam under all kind of cases is researched by using 3-D FEM, and Affect of material's creepage to stress and deformation is been researched yet. The parameter of material's creepage is been confirmed through back analysis to dam by using data gained from in-site observation under construction and after construction, Analysis is been done again by using 2-D FEM and 3-D FEM, Compare between two results is been done. Results of research may provide reference for design of high earth and rockfill dam later.Research shows that Heihe dam has a good state of stress and deformation under all kind of cases, and transverse crack, longitudinal crack and hydraulic fracturing don't appeal. Scheme that material's dry density is been increased in lower of core and been minished in high of core may be taken. Gradient of core can take 1.0.2, but other factor must take into account to determine gradient of core. Affect to stress , deformation and pore water pressure causing by construction period is so poor that the shortest construction period can be tanken. Material's creepage must been taken into account because it's affect to deformation of dam is very great. To earth and rockfill dam in narrow gorge, analysis by using 3-D FEM has more advantage than by using 2-D FEM.
