Base on the result of triaxial test of a pouring asphalt concrete core dam’s core-wall, comparison between Duncan-chang model and modified Duncan-chang model has been made. It shows that the fitting curve of both models coincides with test curve perfectly. When the confining pressure is small, the destruction deviator stress is similar; while the difference between the destruction deviator stress of the two models is increasing with the confining pressure rising. Through the secondary development platform UMAT provided by ABAQUS, projects of dam with different height have been calculated using Duncan-chang model and modified Duncan-chang model. It indicates that the difference is inconspicuous in a low dam, distinct in a high dam. The result from modified Duncan-chang model is more conservative.Several2D models of different height dam have been calculated with the pouring asphalt concrete core-wall in different temperature and different asphalt content. The result shows that the influence of asphalt content and temperature on the deformation and stress in asphalt concrete core-wall is inconspicuous in a low dam; while in the core-wall of a high dam, the deformation and stress level is increasing, major principal stress is diminishing, with the temperature rising or the asphalt content increasing; and with a dam gets higher, this regular pattern is more distinct. In order to explore the influence of the overburden thickness and other factors on the stress state in core-wall, several models of dam with different overburden thickness has also been calculated. The result indicates that the stress level extrema rises with the overburden thickening. When the thickness of overburden increases to a certain extent, partial range in pouring asphalt concrete core-wall gets damaged,The comparison between2d and3d calculations shows that it appears the phenomenon of stress concentration at the contraction between core-wall and bank slope, while it do not reflect the phenomenon in a2D simulation. So it is necessary to analysis in3D model, to obtain the distribution of stress in a core-wall.
