Power factor correction(PFC) technique based on SEPIC converter is researched in this paper.Firstly,the history of PFC techniques is summarised comprehensively.The passive PFC approach and the active two-stage PFC approach and the active single-stage PFC approach are analyzed and compared. Secondly,the principle of SEPIC converter and isolated SEPIC-PFC converter are researched. The design criteria are given and circuit stress is analyzed. Then small signal model for SEPIC-PFC converter as well as its control scheme is developed and used to optimize regulator's parameters.Time domain simulations in detail of the converter are carried out and physical and mathematical explanations are given for the results of simulations.Single-phase rectifier with high power factor using SEPIC converter and RCD clamp is designed and manufactured based on theories discussed above.Exprimental results are presented and the results demontrate the theory analysis.
