The philosophy and methodology of performance-based seismic design (PBSD) has been an extensive topic discussed by earthquake engineering experts at home and abroad. In this paper , research work on displacement-based seismic design(DBSD) at home and abroad are systematically collected and analyzed. Based on the available references of seismic behavior of frame-wall buildings ,the method of DBSD of reinforced concrete frame-wall buildings is primarily put forward by taking into account the fault of methods of seismic design in current code. The main contents are as follows:The actual stiffness of frames and seismic walls at different deformation stages are determined from experimental data, and the results are adopted in the DBSD method.By means of the theoretic researches on the lateral displacement curve of frame-wall buildings, it can be concluded that the contra flexural point in the lateral displacement curve is an important parameter for the target displacement of single-degree-of-freedom(SDOF) system of frame-wall buildings, and a method for analyzing target displacement of SDOF is proposed.Based on the study of the mechanical behaviors of frame-wall buildings subjected to the lateral forces , the simplified column-beam model are presented for practice by the corresponding equivalent of displacement. It simplifies the analysis of frame-wall buildings effectively. Applying SAP2000 analysis programs, a spatial structures model is built in computer. Furthermore , the results of pushover analysis indicate that the simplified column-beam model is validity.Correlational three-lever seismic performance objectives , a case study applied direct DBSD method for a ten-storey R.C. frame-wall buildings is included. And applying SAP2000N finite element analysis program , the analysis of the frame-wall buildings with regular type are completed.
