According to the interior actualities about how to carry out maintenance and management of internal combustion locomotive, a method,which the period of preventive maintenance of locomotive mechanical failure is adjusted by inspecting locomotive state intelligently, is put forward. It aims at advancing the level of maintenance and management of internal combustion locomotive and cutting down charge investment in maintenance and management of locomotive.By inspecting locomotive instantaneous speed and instantaneous fuel consumption, which are regarded as two input information to preventive maintenance system, and establishing fuzzy controller through experience and knowledge, actual working condition of locomotive can be concluded with fuzzy logic. With the change of working condition, actual working hours of locomotive are rectified into general working hours intelligently. While general working hours add up to set value, locomotive preventive maintenance should be done. If not, locomotive startup circuit will be switched off, which forces locomotive to be maintained. In addition, there is wireless data transmission function based on GPRS in this system, which optimizes remote control & remote sensing of internal combustion locomotive. Locomotive preventive maintenance system based on condition monitoring has been patented. Moreover, this system has been fixed into some of internal combustion locomotive in Tianjin Harbor Corporation. Tryout results show that the application of this locomotive preventive maintenance system, which bases on instantaneous speed and instantaneous fuel consumption inspected, can not only prolong life of locomotive but also economize the maintenance charge. By using this system, maintenance management of locomotive is becoming more scientific and more intelligent.
