Soil earthquake responses are a kind of important problems in earthquakeengineering. It is also closely related to seismic damage of structure and is one offoundations of earthquake-resistance design. With the high-speed development ofeconomy, a lot of important engineering buildings have been built in our country, suchas nuclear power station, television tower, tall building, etc. Analysis of Time Courseresponse is essential to earthquake-resistance design of these buildings. First, soilearthquake responses are to be calculated. But there are many indeterminacy factorsin soil earthquake response analysis. So how to estimate the influence ofindeterminacy factors is a problem that need resolved urgently. By expanding in the Taylor series, we estimate the effect of the soil parametervariations on the soil transfer function in this paper. For one-layered model of asite, the variation of the soil transfer has been compared with different orders ofTaylor series and soil variance coefficients and damping ratios when the variationof soil parameters is assumed to be independent Gaussian distribution. At the sametime, we estimate the influence of soil parameter variations to soil transferfunction by mathematical statistics, and provide the reference values. By theseformulas, we discuss the precision and applicability of different orders of Taylorseries at different soil variance coefficients and damping ratios. Finally, wepopularize this method to multi-layered model.
