The projects on the downstream of river are increasing recently. The common features of these projects are low head, low frounde number , large discharge ect. The roller bucket with low-ridge is applicated on the project for energy dissipation in the condition of low Fr current and low head. Some questions are discussed at this article.By the hydraulic model test the application feasibility of the roller bucket with low-ridge was demonstrated. Comparing the hydraulic calculation data and operation rusultes, The article made some summarise. The principle of mixed flow for energy dissipation design has been well vertified through the study results. Based on momentum equations and the results of model experiments, a new experiential formula for estimating the scour depth down stream of the apron were abtained. Based on the model experiments, the way how to manage the multi-outlet sluice lock was provided. Above all, this hydraulic structure is both efficient and economic than traditional dissipater for the projects of low head & low Fr current, it will reserve the abroad practice.
