Excitation system is an important part of synchronous generator. And it affects the operating characteristics of generator and power system directly. This paper discusses a new excitation regulator based on DSP(TMS320LF2407).To make the regulator high operating reliability, the design adopts two-channel architecture i.e. it consists of two completely identical and independent channels. The paper describes the hardware and software of the system. In the hardware of system, it introduces the detailed hardware of DSP excitation regulator, including the design of DSP peripheral circuit, digital circuit and impulse unit circuit. In this paper it also introduces the software of system , the programs adopt C language and use module design methods.To improve the reliability of the excitation control system, in this paper it adopts Fuzzy-PID control technology. A Fuzzy-PID excitation controller of synchronous generator is designed. The experimental result shows that this excitation controller has the better regulating characteristics comparing with the traditional PID excitation controller.The excitation system based on DSP has a simple hardware and strong ability to resist the interference and high control precision.
