Synchronous generator excitation control can adjust the voltage, keep the voltage of generator or hub at constant voltage, and control reactive power distribution in parallel operation of generator. At the same time, synchronous generator excitation control also has a great influence on the dynamic behavior of the generator. The excitation control performance can significantly affect the stability of the power grid, so the research on excitation control and excitation system has received wide attention.At present, the method of PID control and fuzzy PID control is widely used in the generator excitation control system. For conventional PID, because the controller parameters cannot be real-time tuning, the control system of the dynamic stability is not good. For the optimization of fuzzy PID control, the PID parameters can be real-time setting. However, there is a certain blindness for the selection of the fuzzy control theory domain, the quantized factor and proportional factor. The unreasonable selection will lead to system performance degradation. So this paper selects genetic algorithm to optimize the parameters of fuzzy PID controller, so that it can effectively avoid the impact caused by improper selection of parameters.In the article, first of all, according to the principle of the generator excitation system, the transfer function of the mathematical model of the synchronous generator excitation control system is established. According to different control methods, the simulation model was built in MATLAB, and the fuzzy PID excitation control and genetic algorithm optimization of fuzzy PID excitation control were simulated and compared. Then, the simulation of the operation of a single network generator is carried out, and the function of the excitation controller is verified. Finally,this paper proposes DSP-based control unit of the controller hardware circuit design, including analog signal acquisition unit, a synchronous signal capture unit, the phase shift trigger pulse generating unit, switch input and output unit and so on.
