In this paper, the state of the art of the engineering controlled explosion and the Finite Element Method (FEM) are reviewed. In order to analyze and simulate the demolishment of frame-structured buildings due to controlled blasting, the method of killing or activating elements , a high level technique in FEM, and the special element -SOLID65 are introduced to the blasting field first in china by the author. Before being destroyed absolutely, the components of the structure are discussed with some properties such as stress, strain, cracks created and locations of the plastic gemels.Based on the achievements all over the world, all kinds of numerical simulation methods are compared and a conclusion is drew which indicates that FEM is more consummate than DEM and DDA. Provided that the model and parameters are rationally selected, we can simulate the blasting process precisely as possible. For the more perfect function during structural analysis than other soft, ANSYS is used to analyze the transient of the structure through its structural module in this paper. Solid65 is an especial element for reinforced concrete in ANSYS that can be used to build an integral model to make more convenience to simulation. The primary conclusions are drawn in this paper on these points :(1) After the blasting data of delayed time and height are gained based on the theory of gradually disintegration, the elements need to kill are executed similar with destroying the part of the building. Then the pre-condition CG solver is pitched on to execute the nonlinear analysis.(2) The process of nonlinear analysis is done repeatedly until the results are converged. After that, the results are translated to corresponding properties of those components in the post-processing module and compared with the actual engineering after the error is estimated.(3) In this study, after building correct model and executing rational calculation, the results, which included stress-strain curve, bent chart, displacement vector chart, cracks location, loaded-displacement curve and animations about the movement of components. In all, it is viable to simulate the blasting process of frame-structured building by means of FEM and the results from this paper can help to optimize design of controlled blasting.
