In this paper, the experiments on the seismic behavior of 3 special-shaped and 1circular sections 1/4-scale SRC columns are carried out. Based on the experimentalresults, the bearing capacity, stiffness, deterioration process of stiffness, ductility,hysteretic curves, energy dissipation and failure characters are analyzed. And hasmade the contrast with those in circular section SRC column. The results indicate that:1. The SRC columns have good seismic behavior. 2. The special-shaped SRCcolumns' seismic behavior although is inferior to the circular section SRC column,after being designed rationally, still have good seismic behavior and can be used inactual project. The nonlinear finite element model and program of the strip-method onspecial-shaped SRC columns is established. The results obtained from the calculationand those from the experiments are in good agreement, which proved that the programis applicable. Under different steel ratios and axial pressure ratios, the special-shaped SRCcolumns are calculated. The paper gives the curvature-moment curves and n-M/M0curves. The influence of steel ratios and axial pressure ratios on bearing capacity andcurvature ductility of special-shaped SRC columns is analyzed. The restoring force model of special-shaped SRC columns is put forward. The proposals of seismic design on special-shaped SRC columns are given. The research results have been used in the Beijing CBD priority project,Beijing-fortune plaza.
