Up to now,a large amount of research works have been accumulated on seismic performance and mechanical properties of special shaped column structural members and joints.Large numbers of tests showed that the special-shaped columns of reinforced concrete columns are poorly ductile and the seismic capacity of special-shaped columns is reduced.This feature leads to the reduction of the seismic capacity of the frame structure with special shaped columns.Concrete filled steel tube with high bearing capacity and excellent seismic performance has become one of the direction of the development of the building structure.The concrete-filled circular steel tubular column is connected with the steel plate to form the column skeleton,and the concrete is poured externally to form the specialshaped column of concrete-filled steel tube.This structure can hide column edge,expand the use of housing area.Its seismic performance related to the structure and development remains to be further studied.With ABAQUS,a numerical model for L-shaped column with concrete filled steel pipe is established in order to analysis its seismic performance for different axial compression ratios and two different types of loading processes.The finite element analysis is used to simulate the L-shaped columns of reinforced concrete.The seismic behavior of L-shaped column joints is analyzed by strain distribution and hysteresis curve and skeleton curve.Results showed that concrete around steel pipe has a great seismic performance.It might have capacity to bear larger axial compression than ordinary column and it is predicted that steel pipes could have potential capacity of dissipating much more energy.The L-shaped column of reinforced concrete can bear low axial compression ratio,and the energy dissipation performance is poor.
