Collisions between ships are the main part of marine traffic accidents; it may be arisen by several factors. Presently specialists and scholars mostly study how the collisions are arisen by environment factor, human factor and ship equipment factors, but they pay little attention to study on the relation between ship' s measure and collision accidents. On accessing ship's safety from systematic opinion, it is one of effective way in decreasing collision accidents if the study of this relation should be intensified and put on emphasis. By means of studying in documentaries home and abroad in this area, and analyzing the statistical data of collisions. Three methodologies, i.e. statistics analysis, regress analysis and clustering analysis are employed. In order to class the ship measure, in this research we applied grouping data to instead of the original sample data. Therefore, we draw the conclusion that collision accidents will decrease when ship measure enlarges. It is of special significance in the field of the study of collision avoidance. In addition, it can Provide scientific guidance for the action of avoiding collision , and administration to enhance the level of ship management.
