This paper introduces a catenary geometry measurement based on the binocular stereovision technique and discusses the development of stereovision and the application in the catenary inspection system.First, catenary inspection and geometry measurement knowledge related to the research is introduced. And after an in-depth study of various catenary inspection technique, we draw the conclusion that non-contact inspection technique based on computer vision will be a leading technique for catenary geometry measurement in the future. Secondly, a device based on binocular stereovision technique is presented in the paper and its measurement principle is analyzed. The composition and process of the device is also given.The thesis put an emphasis on how to use binocular stereovision technique to realize the measurement of catenary geometry. First, the purpose and method of catenary inspection is introduced briefly. Secondly, the fundamental principle and task of binocular stereovision technique is illustrated. Third, the principle of camera calibration and the method of camera calibration in the design is described. Then, the hardware, image processing of device and the inspection software is illustrated in detail, Including, the selecting of optics device, the mounting position, camera and capture card; analysis and design the algorithm of image processing; the realization of the real-time inspection software system. At last, the paper analyses the result of camera calibration, the accuracy of the device and the software execution time in detail. It also point out the defects of the device and proposed some schemes to solve these problems.
