Improving the speed of railway, the safety of locomotive is required highly and strictly. Monitoring real time state for locomotive is a necessary to improve application quality, to assure running safety, to realize state-repair for locomotive. Based on that, the thesis analyzes the state of repair of locomotive, wireless mobile communications technology, and designs wireless transmission system of monitoring locomotive.The existing GSM(Global System for Mobile communication) network has been widely applied all over the world, it has been the biggest mobile communication system of user number. But the data business of 2.5G and 3G has not been applied on a large scale, it is important to study and apply data business of GSM.The thesis's background is the project of real time monitor system for state of locomotive-application. On the base of researching present situation and progress for locomotive-repair, and study the wireless communication technology of railway, aiming at the communication of data monitored for locomotive and the center of fault -diagnosis on the ground, it compares with and demonstrates for the scheme, and draws a conclusion that SMS(Short Message Server) of GSM is feasible. In addition, on the base of analyzing the SMS of GSM theory, the thesis brings forward to a whole design of real time monitor system for the state of locomotive, including locomotive-locating set, data communication and monitor center on the ground, and it introduces transmitter and receiver of the system in detail. Afterwards, the thesis discusses the design scheme of transmitter and receiver, including hardware scheme and software scheme, and it studies code of short message in-depth. The thesis also discusses short message routing, time delay, blind area in specialty. At last, base of realizing the system, the experiment is done, and we have analyzed the result of the experiment.
