Recently, as the deterioration of our ecological environment, people from varied fields pay so great attention to the ecological problems that the concept of ecology overflows. It seems that the concept has been shared deeply by everyone. But what kind of design is actually "ecological"? Which aspects of design does it embody in? How should the science of ecology be combined with the art of Landscape Architecture? This paper tried to make some preliminary exploration on these problems. Based on analyzing some predecessors' research, four patterns of design embodied the ecological theories were put forward: Eco-Protection Design, Eco- Restoration Design, Eco-Revelatory Design and Eco-Function Design. According to these design patterns, we elaborately chose 12 design cases in and abroad. (Undoubtedly all these cases were embodied with ecological concepts.) By describing and analyzing these cases in great detail, we got the idea of which ecological theories were applied in the design as and from which aspects were these theories combined with Landscape Architecture.
