Cylinder head is one of the most complicated and important parts in internal combustion engine. When engines are operating, cylinder heads must endure high temperature and high pressure produced by the combusting gas. To ensure the reliability of engines, important surface dimensions, shapes and mutual locations must have strict tolerance in the design of cylinder head. At the same time, the intension and the rigidity of cylinder head need higher standard. Due to the mechanical load coming from assembling, beforehand tightening and gas pressure and the heat load of high gas temperature,it is difficult to analyze the stress of cylinder head,In this dissertation, a mode finite element analysis and calculation on the cylinder head of CY4102BZQ diesel engine has been given. By using a powerful analysis software I-DEAS, a mathematical model has been created which can analyze the cylinder head of CY4102BZQ diesel engine accurately. Finite element pretreatment of the cylinder head has been done by adopting the Pro-Processing module of the software. After some predigestions, a 3D finite element model,which can reflect the basic characteristic of cylinder head,composed by the units of tetrahedron has been created.Using the Pro-Processing module of the software, the mode finite element analysis and calculation have been carried out on the model.By comparing the calculation mode results of theory analysis with the mode results of the experimental model analysis,the finite element model proves exact. Two improving projects has been brought forward after analyzing the calculating results. By farther contrasting calculation,the first one is feasible.
