Strength problem in practical engineering contains extensive range, and usually comes down to considering many factors relating to structural bearing capacity, such as obvious shape variation due to plastic deformation, material damage due to load over nominal scale and stability loss, etc. The stress state of material under high temperature is more complex, where temperature stress combines with mechanical stress, which produces huge eflFects on strength of device. So research their strength under high temperature has important value.Application of FEA in Industry has developed from linearity to non-linearity with improvement of computer's technology. Only linearity is not sufficient for requirement of Industry, so author does some research work about non-linearity method of contact for this purpose.The thermal & mechanical analysis of cylinder head cylinder, cylinder mat of diesel engine is processed . The model is made by Pro/Engineer and its element is made by Hyper Works; The 3D FEA is carried out by Ansys with the method of contact. The temperature field, thermal & mechanical stress field are calculated separately. The strength analysis of cylinder head is proceed with method of continuum and contact, their calculated results are compared. All data achieved provides a referential basis for improving the structure of cylinder head.
