Along with the establishment and the consummated of environmental legislation all over the world, the country standard about the limits for exhaust smoke from motorcycles and mopeds will established and be implemented. The smoke emissions from two-stroke engine is specially serious, because of it's combustion methods which using the mixture of the fuel and lubrication.The QN-1 full flow opacity smokemeter which is manufactured by The Internal Combustion Engine Research Institute of Tianjin University, have the advantages that could do the smoke-measurement directly,clearly,exactly and momently, and provide the assurance of the country standard's implement successfully.The QN-1 full flow opacity smokemeter also have some disadvantages, for instance, its measurement is not very stable, and there is more electrical drift. Some improvement should be adopted to resolve these problems. It mainly show in the following field: on the one hand, the work is the improvement of the construction,raising the precision and choosing some components with higher precision and stability; on the other hand, the smoke-measurement circuit board and the program have to be improved. And a series of engine experiment has been finished to compare the QN-1 smokemeter with the former one.In addition, there are some analysis and test research on the detection methods of the motorcycle smoke-measurement with the QN-1 smokemeter.
