The reinforced concrete mega-frame structure system is a new type of structure system. It has many significant characteristics and advantages compared with the other structure systems. The force transference of the structure is clear and direct and it has good integrity; also the space of the structure can be divided with flexibility. The consumption of the material can be reduced, the performance of the material and structure can be fully used and the cost of the project can be reduced, etc. With the development of the national economy, the reinforced concrete mega-frame structures will be widely used. However at present the research on this structural system has just been begun abroad and domestic. Therefore, it's valuable in theory and has practical meanings to study the reinforced concrete mega-frame structures.This paper begins with the structure design of the two typical plane reinforced concrete mega-frame in terms of one or half more degree according to the present codes, which state the three-level precaution and two-stages design method, and references, which state the three-level precaution and three-stages design method, and carries out elastic-plastic seism response analysis under the action of the earthquake actions regarding the 7.5-degree region, 7-degree region. The elastic-plastic dynamic analysis program Drain-2d+ of the plane structure is used to get elastic-plastic time-history analysis for each typical mega-frame under the action of seism.In order to analyze the value of the design amplification factors of moment at bottom sections of ground floor columns of the minor frame on the major beams in accordance with the present codes is positive or not, the structure design of the multiple typical plane mage-frame using the same method is carried out based on the above analysis, then the elastic-plastic time-history analysis using program Drain-2d+ of the plane structure for each typical mega-frame under the action of seism is carried out based on the variation of the amplification factors of moment at bottom sections of ground floor columns of the minor frame on the major beams. After the analysis, the information of the mechanical transmutation characteristics, the emergence of the plastic hinge and the weak point of the whole structure under the action of seism is obtained, from which the correct thinking of how to obtain the design value of amplification factors of moments at bottom sections of ground floor columns of the minor frame on the major beams is found. The reasonable design values are recommended in this paper. Finally, put forward several conclusions and suggestions for seismic design of the reinforced concrete mega-frame structure.
