| Waterproof curtain is widely applied in engineering to prevent seepage and leakage and pollution source dispersion. At present, the main raw materials for waterproof curtain are concrete and polymer. The anti-seepage effect for concrete is not satisfactory because of its seepage coefficient, usually at K=10~5~10~6cm/s, and cracks while drying. The concrete curtain becomes rigid after concreting and tends to crack and dilapidate under the action of external forces such as earthquake, depression and drying. So its waterproof and anti-seepage capacity is weakened or even lost accordingly. It is costly and difficult to construct as well. Although it has good quality for waterproof, but polymer curtain is still restricted to widely use because of its high price and sophisticated engineering technique. Polymer curtain is just applied to some special waterproof projects. In this paper, the author recommends smectite as raw material for dry jet curtain because of its intrinsic physical characteristics such as expansion in water, flexible underground existence and distortion with external action. Dry jet smectite flexible curtain technology has been successfully used in a refinery construction site affiliated with East China petroleum university Dongying, Qingdao fuel company construction site and Qingdao Xiaojian complex garbage processing center. Dry jet smectite flexible curtain or stake has credible engineering feasibility based on systematic field hydrogeological tests. |
