Matrix Converter is a novel AC-AC power converter. Compared with the traditional power converter, it has a few advantages: the lack of DC -link , the ability of four quadrant operation, the excellent waveforms of input current and output voltage, variable power factor input current. Because of such advantages, Matrix converter will be prosperous in the future. In abroad, the research of it has developed for a few times. But in china, the research only has begun lately.A set of experiment equipment of Matrix Converter base on space vector modulation strategy and four-step commutation is designed and debugged. At first , this paper analyzes the problem of bi-directional of MC, and writes the program of four-step commutation by VHDL, then uses the software of Maxplus-II to confirm the validity of it by simulations. Then, a set of experiment equipment of Matrix Converter is established. The controller is DSP, CPLD is designed for a switch train,IMBH60-100 IGBT is power switch device and EXB840 is driver. The results of the experiment successfully show that it can realize the modulation of the frequency of the output voltage. meanwhile, it validates the feasibility of four-step commutation strategy.
