With the fast progress of durable economy and modernization, the flood catastrophe is doing more and more damages, which attracts the attention of the governors and people. In response to finishing the locked target in Guangdong province producing new advantages, stepping into the communism modern world in advance and pushing development of water-related economy coordinately, development strategies of water resource in the new century has been planned out by the officials of Guangdong province. According to the strategies, it is necessary under the coordination of FeiLaixia reservoir to combine the functions of dam and reservoir and enhance the flood control ability of Beijiang dam from 100-year flood to that of 300-year.Beijiang flood control facilities are defined as the outer flood control projects, which are composed of FeiLaixia water reservoir, Beijiang dam of downstream and the other facilities. The hydraulic and water dynamics features in the downstream channel of FeiLaixia water reservoir has been changing after the project was finished and put into operation in April 1997. Research of the flood wave operating rules in the downstream channel after the completion of FeiLaixia win produce significance on the following aspects: Beijiang drainage area and flood control of Guangdong province, enhancement of Beijiang dam flood control ability and the comprehensive utility of Beijiang drainage area water resources. In this paper an overview of channel flood routing technique and methods is giver , and the research result both at home and abroad is provided, after which the channel flood routing rules through the hydrology observatory station of FeiLaixia to that of Shi jiao are studied from the following Four aspects:1 Maskingum linear root;2 Maskingum non-linear root; 3 One-dimensional water dynamics model; 4 Channel flood routing model with forecasting.
