Dongting Lake area, which plays important role in China economy, is one of the greatest grain production bases and industrial raw material suppliers. Meanwhile, it is also the national flood disaster-prone and worst affected area. At present the research on simulation of diversion flood routing for flood storage is very little in Dongting Lake region both at home and abroad. This is the scientific basis for flood controlling. Therefore, developing Research on Simulation of Diversion Flood Routing for Flood Storage in Dongting Lake Region by the full use of the existing technical means and methods is important for minimizing the losses caused by floods, and information construction of flood controlling and the utilization of flood sources.Taking full advantage of the characteristics of flood storage in Dongting Lake region and on the basis of a comparative analysis of various flood routing methods, the hydrodynamic model was used for flood simulation studies of Linan Polder, Dongting lake area. And a 3D analysis system by using a package of ArcEngine based on the DEM of flood routing for flood storage in Dongting Lake was developed. The main contents and the innovation of this thesis are as follows:1. The thesis firstly analyzed the flooding problem of the Dongting Lake area and the new flooding prevention condition after construction of Three Gorges project, and then clarified the important role of flood storage to the flood-control project of the Dongting Lake area, and presented the necessity of researching on simulation of Diversion Flood routing for flood storage in Dongting Lake region, and summarized the present state of researches on evolution of flood simulation, hydraulics with GIS and 3D visualization, etc. Finally, this thesis concluded the general tendency and law of the development of simulation of diversion flood routing.2. The thesis expounds the computational method of flood routing in flood storage. In general, the simulation of diversion flood rounting using 2D unsteady flow simulation, but for the flood storage of Dongting Lake region because of that greater number and smaller size its application with certain limitations. According to the characteristics of flood storage, this thesis chose the one-dimension unsteady flow model to simplify the flood routing of flood storage to the one-dimensional simulation of the low water level of river. That is, to meet the requirements of flood control, and reduce the computational complexity. It showed that the flood routing of Linan Storage was simulated in a better fitting, the model was suit to other flood storages. Further more,we write the procedures which suitable for the flood storage in Dongting Lake region with VB.The calculation program actualize the core algorithm in the application of the flood embankment to the other only need to change the procedures and the corresponding part of the border conditions.3.Using the ArcEngine package, the thesis established the system of flood analysis and flow routing based on the DEM. The system can display the flood routing with three-dimension model, and figure out the water area and flood inflow immediately, and can enhances the efficiency of the flood, greatly reducing the time to survey the field, facilitate the analysis quickly made solutions. Through Linan polder simulation results show that, comprehensive utilization of GIS and DEM for flood simulation will be able to meet the Dongting Lake in the flood embankment flood warning, flood prevention and disaster preparedness.4. The thesis sum up the achievements of the thesis, and point out the orientation improvement direction of further study.
