There is appear some new characteristic in design,structure,technics and run in modern special large-scale generators. The 700MW hydraulic generators of the three gorges are typical one. For example, the stator winding besides adopt many branch structure, in order to solve the problem of cool-piping and locale-installation of large-diameter stator winding, no longer follow traditional double-deck wave winding or pucker winding. These make winding types and fault types more complex. So, it need to analysis aim at it, to confirm possible fault-point, and to right estimate protection configure and performance through short calculate, ensure safety run of large-scale generators.This paper bases on structure parameter of two kinds of generators (Alstom and VGS) of the three gorges power station and winding design of generators, analyze the structure of stator winding, and confirm the possible position that occur short.The stator winding of the three gorges generators have five parallel connection branch, each branch adopt a sort of double-deck wave winding with back roll. This structure make it possible to occur the short that same phase same branch, same phase differ branch and differ phase in inside and down-lead. The paper discuss a way of winding searching, and develop a analysis program of winding structure and fault types. This can build all kinds of short information automated, and facility offer information for fault calculate.Using the analysis and calculate program of large-scale generator fault instantaneous, combine fault information offered by analysis program of stator winding fault types, calculate all fault types possibly, and analyze the inside fault main protection, then advance estimate opinion.For insure the safety run of the three gorges generators, and check up protection configure and run performance, Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Yangtze River electric power stock company cooperated to establish a physical dynamic simulator generator in HUST. The paper design the generator simulate Alstom in stator winding structure and electric parameter.
